Plantation shutters have become one of the most popular window coverings in Gold Coast homes, and once you see them fitted, it is easy to understand why. You get real light control and privacy, a bit of warmth in the room, and because each shutter is made to fit your exact window, the finished result sits neat in a way that off-the-shelf blinds and curtains never quite manage.
At Screen & Blind Master we supply and install plantation shutters right across the Gold Coast. We are a family-owned local business with more than 10 years behind us and over 100 five-star Google reviews. We bring the samples to your home, then handle the job from measure through to install.
Our conditions are hard on window furnishings. Strong UV, high humidity, salt air off the coast and long runs of heat wear most products down over time. Plantation shutters are built for exactly this, which is a big part of why they have stayed such a steady choice in Queensland.
The day-to-day use is the other half of it. Tilt the louvres and you control how much light comes in without lifting a blind. You get light and airflow at once, and you keep your privacy while you do it. Curtains and roller blinds cannot really match that.
A few other reasons they keep getting chosen here:
The right material comes down to where the shutter is going and what you need it to do. We stock three core options to cover that. When we come out for your free measure and quote, we bring physical samples so you can check the colour, texture and louvre size in your own light before you decide anything.
Thermopoly is our pick for wet areas. It is 100% waterproof and will not crack, chip or split, which makes it the sensible choice for bathrooms, kitchens, laundries and any window that cops moisture or condensation. The PVC is termite-proof too, and it takes Gold Coast humidity without breaking down.
It comes in a wide range of colours, and the painted finish holds up far better than timber would in a humid room. For wet areas, it is the best option we offer.
Fauxwood is our most popular shutter by a fair way. It is a composite that gives you the look and feel of timber without the upkeep, so it will not warp, peel, shrink or split in coastal conditions.
If you want the classic timber look with a material that copes with our climate, this is the one. It comes in a broad colour range with a paint finish that resists chipping over the years. A solid choice for living areas, bedrooms and larger feature windows.
For anyone after genuine hardwood, our Timber Eco range is the real thing. It is treated and made to resist the warping, shrinking and splitting that standard timber can suffer in the Queensland climate.
There is a natural warmth and grain to real timber that no composite fully copies, which is why it tends to go in feature windows and living spaces where the look is the priority. It handles the heat and moisture of coastal living while keeping its appearance.
If you have any questions or queries please don’t hesitate to contact our friendly team on mentioned contact details or leave your details in our form, and we will get back to you as soon as possible.
Every shutter we make is built to fit your window, and we have not struck a window or door yet that we could not shutter. These four styles cover just about every setup in a Gold Coast home, from a small bathroom window through to a wide open-plan wall.
The traditional style. Hinged panels swing open from the side, which suits standard windows, French doors and homes going for a classic look. They open right up for airflow and close to a clean, even finish across the frame.
Best for wider windows or awkward openings where a hinged panel would need too much swing room. The panels fold back compactly to one or both sides, so you get full access when they are open and full cover when they are shut. A common pick for larger living areas and open plans.
For modern homes and big window walls. Sliding panels run along a track with no swing at all, which works for sliding doors, wide openings and anywhere you want the shutters to move neatly out of the way. You see these a lot in newer Gold Coast apartments and coastal builds.
Set at a permanent louvre angle and don’t operate. They suit street-facing windows, high bathroom windows and feature spots where you want steady light filtering and privacy without any moving parts. Simple and very low maintenance.
Odd-shaped windows are not a problem. Arched, angled, raked and round windows can all be shuttered, and rather than hiding the shape the way a blind or curtain would, the shutters follow it and show it off. If you have a window you assumed was too tricky, bring it up at the quote and we will work out the options.

We got several quotes for our security screen installation, not only was Screen and Blind Master the cheapest, but also had the best reviews and shortest lead-time for production and installation. Luther was incredibly helpful, going the extra mile to help us out with a door runner too, and even changing out the locking cylinder on an existing Crimsafe door we had on the property. Viking Screens had a 6-week lead time and was almost 15% more expensive for the exact same product. We're stoked with the installation, process was simple and quick. Highly recommend!Posted on Google Shannon WilsonTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Had the team at Screen and Blind Master quote - supply and install two new front door screens at our house in Coomera Waters. They were awesome to deal with - professional, on time, easy to deal with, great pricing and awesome finish product. Very much highly recommend their work.
We’re a family-owned local team, not a franchise or a big-box retailer, and that comes through in how we work. Our installer handles every job personally, and the care that goes in at the measuring stage is what separates a clean, professional finish from a shutter that doesn’t sit quite right.
We run as a mobile showroom, so we come to you with samples, colours and honest advice, and there’s no pressure and no upselling. You get to see the materials in your own light before you commit to anything. All our shutters come with a warranty, and our pricing is clear and upfront from the start.
We offer an obligation free measure and quote across the Gold Coast and surrounding areas. Whether it is a single bathroom window or a whole home, we come to you with samples, talk through the options and give you clear pricing upfront.
Prices vary based on material choice, window size, and the number of shutters being installed. As a general guide, most Gold Coast homeowners invest between $300 and $500 per window, with a full home typically ranging from $2,500 to $4,000. The best way to get accurate pricing for your home is through a free measure and quote, so there are no surprises. For a more detailed breakdown, see our plantation shutters cost guide.
For wet areas like bathrooms and kitchens, Thermopoly is the top pick. It is 100% waterproof, termite-proof and handles humidity without cracking or chipping. Fauxwood is the most popular choice for living areas and bedrooms, with the look of timber and the durability of a composite. Timber Eco suits anyone who wants genuine hardwood with better resistance to Queensland conditions than a standard timber shutter. Our team helps you work out the right fit at your free consultation.
Yes. Plantation shutters are widely treated as a premium fixture by buyers and real estate agents. Unlike blinds or curtains, they’re considered a permanent part of the property, and they’re a visible quality signal that buyers notice immediately.
