How Long Does It Take to Install Security Screens?

ForceField Security Door

Security screen installation is a bit more involved than most people realise, and the timeline looks different depending on the scope of the job. To give you a proper picture of what to expect, it helps to walk through the process from start to finish.

First Step: Your Free In-Home Security Screen Consultation

Before anything is ordered or manufactured, we come to you for a free in-home consultation. This is where we walk through the property together, look at every door and window you want secured, and talk through the Prowler Proof range in detail.

Colour options, product types, mesh grades and frame styles all get sorted at this stage. We take the time to understand your home properly before anything goes to the factory, which is what makes the installation day run efficiently.

How Long Does It Take for Security Screens to Be Made?

Once you’re happy with the quote and the order is confirmed, your screens go into production. Every Prowler Proof screen is custom made to order at the Prowler Proof factory in Banyo, Brisbane, manufactured precisely to the measurements taken at your home.

Typical turnaround from order confirmation to installation is one to two weeks. That said, lead times can extend during peak periods, particularly around Christmas and the end of year holiday period when the factory is running at full capacity.

If you’re working to a deadline such as a settlement date, a move-in date or a planned renovation, it’s worth booking your consultation early so manufacturing doesn’t hold things up.

How Long Does Security Screen Installation Take on the Day?

Once your screens are ready, we book in the installation. How long the day takes depends on what’s being fitted. As a general guide:

  • Single hinged door: around 45 minutes
  • Sliding door: around 30 minutes
  • Hinged window: around 30 minutes
  • Double front doors: around 2 hours
  • 4-way corner stacker doors: around 3 hours
  • Patio enclosure: approximately a full day
  • Single storey home (full lot): typically a three-quarter day
  • Double storey home: one to one and a half days

Pivot doors and any installations involving specialised buildouts or unusual configurations are assessed individually, as complexity can vary considerably from job to job.

What to Expect on Installation Day

We need access to the inside and outside of the home to fit the screens correctly. Because everything arrives already manufactured to size, the installation process itself is efficient and tidy.

Once the job is done, if you’re home, the installer will walk you through how each door and lock operates and answer any questions before leaving.

For investment properties or strata managed buildings, it’s worth contacting your property manager or real estate agent ahead of time to organise key access or arrange for someone to be on site. Sorting this in advance makes a noticeable difference to how smoothly the day runs.

Peace of Mind Included: The Prowler Proof 10-Year Warranty

All Prowler Proof security screens come with a 10-year full replacement warranty, which is the only warranty of its kind in Australia. If a defect in materials or workmanship occurs within that period, the product is replaced entirely rather than repaired, and the warranty period starts fresh.

You can read the full details on the Prowler Proof warranty page. Ready to get started? Book your free in-home consultation today and we’ll walk you through everything.
